Competition assessment of Mexico
Many of Mexico’s product markets remain among the most heavily regulated in the OECD. These structural flaws adversely affect the ability of firms to effectively compete in the markets and hamper innovation, efficiency and productivity. Against this backdrop, this report analyses Mexican legislation in the medicine and meat sectors along the vertical supply chain and proposes specific recommendations for change.

Fighting bid rigging in the electricity sector in Mexico
Reforms opening up the electricity sector to competition have prompted the Mexican Electricity Federal Commission (CFE) to seek further efficiencies and cost savings in its public procurement practices. This review will help CFE to ensure that its new procurement regime will promote competition and incorporate methods to detect collusive agreements.

The societal benefits and costs of International Investment Agreements
Many countries have embraced International Investment Agreements (IIAs) over the past half century on the assumption that their provisions generate benefits to home and host societies. With this assumption being called into question, this paper reviews the alleged societal benefits and costs of IIAs as suggested by academia, governments, business and civil society, with a particular focus on the investor protection component of IIAs.
